Adorsi Freed After Murder Trial Verdict
Adeorsi, once charged with first degree murder and voluntary manslaughter in the Downey case, was found not guilty by a jury after more than 17 hours of deliberation. The district attorney announced all charges would be dropped and the case closed. Adeorsi testified he was not in Berwick, Pennsylvania, on August 22, 1927. Downey was killed while assisting troopers in his gang. The verdict was greeted by his wife and three children.
