The aide to Chairman McCarthy confirms Project Lincoln, a top secret study on defending against atomic attack, is being investigated by the Senate investigations subcommittee. Francis P. Carr confirms the project is among defense establishments in the Boston area under scrutiny.
Pennsylvania GOP leaders gathered at the Waldorf Astoria for private talks and an annual dinner honoring H W Prentice Jr. of Lancaster. Duff, Fine, and G Masch Owlett led discussions on securing unified support for a 1984 gubernatorial candidate amid shifting loyalty and potential federal appointments.

Indiana County grand jury filed recommendations for repairs and improvements to county buildings. Noted were inadequate jail kitchen space, need to enclose the adjoining porch, and repairs to kitchen stove and floor. Commendations were given to Sheriff Paul W. Jeffries and wife for jail operations and to Mr. and Mrs. George Merrill at Willards Home. Additional suggestions included floors, washing machines, and dryers at the county home, renewed space for prothonotery and register and recorder, and hiring two male turn keys for the jail.
Charges of rape and robbery were filed against Sutcliffe in Dallas after a couple abducted, tied to a tree, and had their car stolen and abandoned near the scene. The victims, who had been in Malvern, returned to Dallas to confront Sutcliffe as authorities pursued the case.
Cox quoted Sutcliffe saying he ran out of money in Dallas and planned only to rob the couple when forcing into their car. The prosecutor noted the soldier said fear of being turned in led him to spare the victims. Sheriff Traywick said Matthews led police to a Highway 67 junction near Greenville Texas and described the abduction and initial assault.

Local CofC board met Thursday approving a fine plan for the Christmas decorating program. The Indiana Chamber heard a report from a meeting of the Hire Turpith Association at Ebensburg. The board decided to eliminate the Man of the Year award after five years. Charles Russell was named to lead a study into the bar assessment program in the county. A report on a Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce workshop was given by the executive committee. The local chamber endorsed forming the Erie Turnpike Association as a formal organization.
Marion Center Joint School Committee heard the activity fund report by William A. McCreery. Receipts totaled 6850 from high school activities. year began with 2211, expenditures 5423, leaving 3847. Officers: J Paul Hopkins president A B Miller vice president Hugh P Fitzsimmons secretary C Haer treasurer. Members: Ira Altman D R Hill J Reid Beacher RK Winebark Wayne Repine. Continuous savings and governance questioned.
Obituary notices list Ralph Waldo Simphor of Georgeville Pa who died December 10 at 19 20 at home after 16 years with the Army Corps of Engineers. Also reported are Claud Franklin Ginter of near Gipsy born July 18 1880 and Sarah Sally Dickey Linsenbigler of Apollo Ashtabula Ohio with numerous descendants. Memorial services set for December 18 2 pm and December 14 2 pm respectively with burial in local cemeteries. Related survivors include Olive Kerr Simpson Richard Simpson Mary Raybuck and multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren. Burial details at Georgeville and Apollo cemeteries.
A two car collision occurred Thursday evening on Route 119 two miles south of Indiana. Damages were estimated at 185 dollars. Gerald A. Hallern of Indiana R D 8 and John Sleigh of Homer City were the drivers. Hallern, northbound, widened on the curve and struck Sleigh, southbound. No injuries were reported. The first automobile advertisement appeared around 1900.
General George C. Marshall, Nobel Peace Prize winner for 1953, departed Oslo today en route to Paris. He left amid cheers from awaiting crowds and diplomatic reception plans in the French capital.
