Kidnapped Maiden Love Case Shocks Butler Pa
John Alamanda, an Italian, confessed to abducting Mary Grando, daughter of mine superintendent Leonard Grando, in Butler Pennsylvania. He pleaded guilty before Judge James M. Galbreath and received three and a half years in the Western penitentiary. Alamanda and accomplices snatched the girl near Argentine, bound and gagged her, and held her in an abandoned woods house until miners freed her next day. He was captured ten miles from Argentine while boarding a train.

Rare 1804 silver dollars found in Carlisle

Uniontown December 10 A jury acquitted Louis Gruber of the murder of Frank Ringle whose body was buried under a garage floor after a bank withdrawal. Ringle had been killed for the money.
