The Labor Department reports the unemployment rate at 5.8 percent in November with 540000 new jobs, led by gains for adult men while women and teens contributed to the rise in employment. Total employment climbs to 95.7 million with women accounting for over half the increase.
A 13 year old from Ross Township underwent a heart transplant at Stanford University Hospital and is in satisfactory condition. He is the second youngest patient at Stanford among about 160 heart transplants. He wrote a note thanking his parents and was healing 24 hours after surgery.

He dialed 1 212 936 3636 hearing a one minute recording about Christmas in a foreign nation. The family and customers questioned the long distance promotion and PN Bell withdrew the ad in Seattle.
