Man Charged With Murder Found Dead
CHARLES TOWN W VA Teenage Molly Kidwell's elderly suitor, charged with murder in the poison deaths of her father and two brothers, hanged himself in his jail cell early today. William S. Knighten, 72, Bolivar, was found with a sheet knotted around his neck. Knighten was arrested Sunday on a warrant for arsenic deaths of William Kidwell, 42, and his sons Thomas 1 and Charles 2. The Kidwell family became ill November 10. the father and nine children were hospitalized in Hagerstown, Maryland, on November 14. The two children died the next day, the father a week later on Thanksgiving Day. Mrs. Kidwell was hospitalized later during questioning. Arsenic was found on the sides of the well at the Kidwell farm home after autopsy showed the children died of arsenic poisoning. Durst said Knighten denied placing poison in the well.

Gerald Petey, 14, was killed when a 20 ton rock fell from a limestone ledge where he and Ernest Watking, 14, sat around a bonfire. Watking was injured and hospitalized in critical condition. Coroner Steve D. Yoney cited thaw loosening the rock as the cause.
