Man Charged Over 18 Bad Checks Across States

Chicago framed Edward Joseph Hine a 34 year old truck driver accused of passing 18 forged checks totaling 1800 dollars in Pennsylvania and three other states. FBI chief Donald Hostetter said agents arrested him near his Chicago home after he escaped a Maryland jail in 1953 while serving for forgery. He allegedly has two wives in Chicago and Baltimore and was indicted in Scranton for transporting a forged 123 dollar check from Maryland to Pennsylvania.

Walls tied to robbery and murder trial delays

The prosecution accuses Walls of being an accomplice identified by police as Oscar Brew ster, 33, of Butler. A murder trial date is pending after Walls was sentenced yesterday by Visiting Judge J Frank Graft of Armstrong County following a denied request for a new trial. The judge presided over Walls' Allegheny County Criminal Court case.

Began Life Term In Bar Slaying

Eugene Walls, 22, of Butler, began serving a life sentence for the cavern rifle slaying of 33 year old John Dziekanski of Ambridge. Walls was convicted by a jury at murder last Oct. 21. The state contends Walls shot Dziekanski Nov. 19, 1953 as the victim fought with a holdup man in a tavern in nearby Sewickley Twp.

South West Pennsylvania Pipe Lines Liquidated

Oil City based firm liquidated after operating pipe lines and storage tanks for crude petroleum. President John Isaden announced final dividends totaling 28901 dollars, distributed among 19 stockholders this week. The company served southwestern Pennsylvania with headquarters in Oil City.
