Utility CWIP Bans Winter Shutoffs in Pennsylvania

Harrisburg AP The Public Utility Commission approved a Cold Weather Interim Procedure to prohibit service terminations from Dec 10 to next April 1 for customers unable to pay. The plan allows a 20 day review by the Consumer Services Bureau before any shutoff proceeds.

Blairsville Robbery Suspect Arrested. Two Thefts Linked

An 18 year old Blairsville resident was arrested for an armed robbery at KAYO Service Station Blairsville Route 22 and a separate Nov 22 theft of a vehicle from Indiana. William Ray Baker was also charged in two counts each of robbery theft and receiving and two counts of theft of vehicle. He was arraigned and jailed in Indiana County. Trooper John Sokol assisted by local police made the arrests.

Shell Begins Nationwide Gasoline Rationing

Shell Oil Co, the largest U S gasoline marketer, cuts shipments to dealers by 25 percent amid rising demand and refinery outages. Rationing may last into December or early January with 75 percent of December 1977 volumes or 75 percent of December 1972 volumes allocated per dealer.

Merger Proposed for Season-all by Redland and Braas Brans

European firms Redland Limited of England and Brans & Co. GmbH of West Germany announced a tentative merger plan with Season-all Industries Inc of Indiana. The jointly owned subsidiary would buy all Season-all shares for 17 dollars per share totaling about 33.3 million dollars. Shareholders must approve, with a formal agreement after reviews and regulatory clearance. a special meeting is planned for early 1979.
