Quebec Bridge Tragedy Breaks with Fall of Span
Quebec Aug 30 A section of the St Lawrence bridge collapsed five miles below Quebec City sending scores of workers into the river. At least 16 bodies recovered, eight injured hospitalized, and search efforts hampered by darkness. The disaster struck as workers quit at 6:30 pm on a 1800 foot central cantilever span planned for a transcontinental railway and electric tramways.
