Gemini 5 completes a record 8 day mission as Lt Col L Gordon Cooper Sr and Lt Cmdr Charles Conrad Jr return to Earth aboard an Atlantic splashdown after a hurricane threatening the voyage. They survive a demanding reentry, with family notes and a Texas ceremony planned on return.

A University of Pittsburgh alum with degrees in science he has lectured at Carnegie Museum and worked as a field collector for the American Museum in New York. For six years he has presented animal programs on educational television and now serves as an adviser for Encyclopedia Britannica Films. While his focus is the Amazon basin he will discuss Africa in tonight's program.
