Loss in Logan Two shop fire reaches $50,000

A Pennsylvania Railroad large box car repair shop in Logan Two was destroyed and two more cars damaged by a Monday night fire. Firemen battled the blaze for over an hour. a PRR spokesman put the loss at $50,000 and no injuries were reported.

NYC Strike Ends Lets Rail Traffic Resume

An overnight walkout by New York Central railroad workers ended this morning, restoring direct Chicago to New York mainline passenger and freight service. Picketing dispersed as four officials arrived by special train from Cleveland to seek a court injunction amid protests over the firing of an Elkhart brakeman. The line rerouted mainline passenger trains via Michigan Central through Detroit, but Chicago to Toledo trains and most freight traffic remained blocked.

West Indies Mission orders 13 staff from Cuba

The inter-denominational West Indies Mission Inc. has ordered 13 North American staffers to leave Cuba for safety, reducing on-island personnel from 21 to zero.
