Man Kills Five Then Kills Self On Colorado Ranch
A 26-year-old sex offender on a work-release program killed five members of a ranch family in Fremont County before taking his own life near the Hardin ranch. Richard Turner, who had raped two girls years earlier, fled with Hardin’s truck, held three at gunpoint, and raped a 14-year-old before dying on a county road as deputies closed in. Gov. Lamm ordered an investigation into the release.

Rossiter Youth Is Arraigned On Drug Charge
Ron ald Leroy Scott, 18, of Pine Lodge Rossiter, was arrested yesterday afternoon by Punxsutawney state police for violation of the Controlled Substance Drug Device and Cosmetic Act. The arrest stemmed from a traffic ordinance violation on August 13. Scott was arraigned before District Magistrate Guy M. Lester and released on a $500 bond pending action by Jefferson County Court.

Over 500 birds entered for the poultry competition at the Indiana County Fair to run August 30 through September 4. A tent will house the poultry exhibit as the fair expands agriculture emphasis.
