Women win handicap tourneys at Indiana Country Club

Mrs Barney Wilmoth won the eighteen hole division defeating Helen Musser Wilbur Widdowson John Simpson and Don V Miller. Mrs Wallace Young won the nine hole division after facing Jack Ash Donald Bowser Wayne Tomb and Murray Peeler. A reunion of George and Sophia Bark descendants was hosted by Mr and Mrs Robert Bark at Creekside RD 1 on August 19 with many relatives attending and a basket dinner. recreational activities included horse shoes badminton croquet and swimming.

Bride Frances Stang Weds Thomas Dinnin In Wilkinsburg

Frances Aloyse Stang and Thomas Richard Dinnin were married at St James Church Wilkinsburg in a nuptial mass officiated by Rev John F Doherty. The bride wore white bouquet taffeta with Alencon lace and carried white roses. Bridesmaids wore maize silk organza and carried yellow chrysanthemums. Best man was William R Dinnin Jr and ushers included Vincent A Crisanti Joseph A Hepp Jr and Paul J McGinnis. A reception followed at Edgewood Country Club and the couple will live in Pittsburgh.

Chaplain Elected for First Armored Division Association

John M. Jenkins of Pittsburgh was elected chaplain of the First Armored Division Association at its Louisville convention. The association comprises World War II veterans of the division. Indian-born surgeon Verghese operates from wheelchair in New York

Dr Mary Verghese, a paraplegic surgeon from India, works at New York University's Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She uses a wheelchair to perform reconstructive hand surgeries for leprosy patients and is set to establish India's first complete department for physical rehabilitation in Vellore after a London study tour.

Beta Sigma Phi entertains rushees at McCreary party room

Beta Sigma Phi Theta Rho Chapter 5962 Indiana hosted ten rushees Monday evening August 20 in a country style rush party at the McCreary Party Room. The decor featured hay wagons lofts rustic tablecloths and fall flowers. Prizes were awarded including a Fort Lauderdale souvenir. Ten active members and ten rushees enjoyed corn on the cob sloppy joes and grape punch. Rushees were invited to the September 10 meeting at Miss Lyda Worth’s home where Mrs. Ann Sudd will present the cultural program.

The Ladies Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1689 met on August 21 at the V.F.W. Country Club for its regular monthly session.
