Uniontown to honor Murphy after French Grand Prix win
Aug 25 Uniontown reports Little Jimmy Murphy, winner of the French Grand Prix on the Le Mans circuit, will receive a large welcome in New York and Pittsburgh before a Uniontown parade and barbecue. Mayor Smart and Uniontown Speedway officials lead a committee, with Barney Oldfield and Frank J. Souppo, to greet Murphy on the quarantine boat, escort to the Hotel Astor, and celebratory events. Murphy then travels to Indianapolis to oversee his car’s setup for the Uniontown Labor Day 225 mile race.
