Death by Own Action Found in Barn Near Mechanicsburg
Samuel Rhodes, about 28, of Brushvalley township, was found hanging in his uncle’s barn near Mechanicsburg by Margaret Evans this morning after a period of illness and nervous prostration. He had recently left bed to plow, then collapsed and was taken home before he went to the barn unobserved and ended his life with a rope. He leaves a family in Indiana and relatives in Evans and Rhodes families, with funeral plans pending.

Mrs E P Grove was taken to Pittsburg on Sunday for an appendicitis operation at Pittsburg Hospital East End likely within days. Dr Grove her husband Dr N F Ehrenfeld and Miss Agnes Stadtmiller accompanied her. She withstood the journey fatigue well and Dr Ehrenfeld and Miss Stadtmiller remain with her. She had returned to Indiana Thursday after visiting her mother in Roma New York. Friday and Saturday she suffered excruciating pain and the trouble was diagnosed as appendicitis.
