Chicago reports Ceorza W. Fitzgerald, jailed on a $173,000 fraud charge, was bailed by Judge Chetlain as prosecutors seek more evidence. He claimed the money came from investments and inherits, while officials doubt current proof supports further prosecution. A separate Springfield note covers a test of Hiram Maxim’s gas silencer at the armory.
