The Penn State board voted to end all athletic scholarships and to provide training for larger squads in major sports. Fearing improved athletics for more students, the plan also funds additional coaches and equipment, and bans scouting opponents. Six veterans of the regiment are listed as the only survivors of the unit that suffered heavy losses.
Governor John S. Fisher voiced approval of State College's move to abolish all athletic scholarships. He opposed inducements for athletic service as it corrupts the spirit of sports. Fisher has long followed State College affairs and was a trustee when elected.
A memorial on the life of the late Comrade Joseph Hoover of Auburn Indiana was read by Mrs Dessa Knox.
