Mishap Kills Area Miner in Lucerne Mines
Henry J. Ruffner 36 of Lucernemines died in a Rochester & Pittsburgh Coal Co. mine accident. He was crushed by a 10 ton locomotive while operating alone about a mile inside the Lucerne operation. a fellow miner found him pinned under the derailed machine after it jumped tracks.
