Ford Co to Give Union Its Choice
Ford Motor Co and the CIO United Auto Workers agreed on two contract options for 107,000 Ford production workers and left the choice to ratification by the union. Both plans extend the UAW shop at Ford plants if approved by Sept. 15, retroactive to May 31, 1947. The choice hinges on a pension plan plus minor raises or a higher wage increase with paid holidays, with a lunch-period dispute sent to arbitration.
