Washington August 12 The House passed the cotton revision bill with amendments affecting steel iron and chemical schedules by 180 to 107. Eight Republicans favored the measure Hanna Iergeson Davis Lindbergh Volstead Steenerson Lafferty Norris. Taft’s veto message was sent to Congress and both houses adjourned this afternoon.

George Richey of Pittsburg, from a wealthy family, made three attempts to die under a fast train in Hammond Ind. He lay on the rails twice and was stopped by air brakes, but on the third try the locomotive struck him. Engineer Leversen reports he did not see Richey until it was too late.
