Father and son trapped as 20 year old miner dies in mine accident

Henry Kosmace, 20, of Heilwood was electrocuted in the Derringer Fuel mine near Clymer while entering with his father Joseph to begin the night shift. A 250 volt wire, used for digging machines, caused his death as his father sought help. The incident occurred about 4 p.m. and the body was later removed to the Clymer Furniture mortuary.

Public Hearing Called On Retail Code Of Fair Competition

All members of the Pennsylvania Retailers Association except pod and grocery distributors are urged to attend a public hearing on the Retail Code of Fair Competition. The event will be conducted by the National Recovery Administration at the United States Chamber of Commerce in Washington DC on Tuesday August 22 at 10 a.m. Representatives from retail furniture shoe hardware nail order clothiers furnishers and dry goods associations will present their case. County statistics show 168,553 live births in Pennsylvania the lowest on record with a long-term decline since 1928. Deaths reached 109,305, yielding a death rate of 11.1 per 1000. Measles and whooping cough caused dozens of deaths while motor vehicle accidents remain a top cause. Indicated birth rates and foreign-born mother shares are noted for Indiana County.

Training of Dogs for Game Season Provisions

Deaf mute killed in auto accident at Cambridge Springs

Isaac Gaupp, 80, of Cambridge Springs, died at Mullen hospital after being struck by a car driven by Mrs. Margaret Dunmire of Edinboro. Police say Gaupp, a deaf mute, stopped in the road. Crawford County Coroner W. Bynham is investigating the death.

Thieves Secure $1,250 Cigarettes in Pittsburgh Burglary

Police estimate the downtown Pittsburgh burglary took hours to carry out. Thieves forced a rear door to enter the second floor of a drug company warehouse and stole several thousand packages of cigarettes valued at $1,250. A truck appeared to be used to haul away the loot.

Reorganization Plan Of Blairsville Bank Outlined

A large meeting at Blairsville High School reviewed a proposed reorganization plan for Blairsville National Bank. The plan would create a 100000 capital with 20000 paid in surplus, half of capital as government subscribed preferred stock. 63 percent of assets to be taken as 100 percent good, with 15 percent liquidated by a three member committee. Debtors and stockholders could subscribe from liquid assets, and government approval was sought.

Fallington Auto Bus seeks PSC permit for routes in PA

The Fallington Auto Bus Company of Glennfield seeks Pennsylvania Public Service Commission approval to operate passenger service on routes linking Indiana to Saltsburg and Pittsburgh, plus connections to Vandergrift and Witlanning. Arrests In Each Of 13 Lindbergh Kidnaping Cases

New York August 18 The federal government reports progress in the war against kidnapers since the Lindbergh baby case. Thirteen major abductions have occurred, with arrests in about half.
