Predict School Tax Loss In Harrisburg

In Harrisburg Democratic and Republican sources predict defeat for an education improvement program and a 2 percent tax levy on dividends royalties and capital gains to fund it. Leaders plan to press votes though Philadelphia Democrats demand Senate clearance for reorganizing the 2244 school districts into about 500 districts. The revenue estimate drops from 25.6 million to 23 million after amending rents. Senate redistricting also moves ahead with a new plan for at large elections of 12 congressmen in three districts.

Sideswipe injures two on Route 19 near Indiana

A Michigan woman Dorothy A Beranek 58 and her son George Franz Beranek Jr 31 were injured when a southbound car driven by Peggy Ann Beckenrod 18 crossed the center line and sideswiped their vehicle about seven miles north of Indianapolis on Route 119. Dorothy Beranek was admitted with multiple rib and left shoulder fractures, condition fair. Beranek’s son treated and released for abrasions and contusions. Damages estimated at 750 and 350 dollars. Tears, apology reshape tense Senate moment in Harrisburg

Sen. Albert Pechan, an Armstrong County Republican, wept on the Senate floor after Sen. Paul W.
