Bus Firm Talks Resume In Pittsburgh Strike Negotiations

Negotiations resumed today after a two week recess in the 44 day strike by 32 drivers of Ohio River Motor Coach Co. Officials and Motor Coach Emploes Division 85 representatives sat with Federal Conciliator Martin Swanger and State Mediator Joseph Bach. Beaver Valley bus service from Ambridge to Downtown Pittsburgh via Lewrick has been halted by the dispute. The main issue is drivers demand for overtime after 40 hours instead of 46.

Funds Set For State Metals Research In 1957

Washington reports a major portion of federal metals and ores research funds for 1957 will go to Pennsylvania. Bureau of Mines director Marling J. Ankeny said more than nine million dollars will aid Pennsylvania mines and research, plus 3.014 million for relocation to the Anthracite Research Laboratory at Schuylkill Haven. Additional funds support Pittsburgh facilities for minerals and metals, anthracite drainage projects, synthetic fuels, and health safety in mines.

Homer City Hamfest Draws Amateurs From Multiple States

Stephen Rich ter of Homer City attends Pennsylvania's Second Annual Hamfest at Hershey Park on August 12.
