Rockfall Kills Miner at Rushton Mine in Clearfield County
In Clearfield County Osceola Mills Ronald Christmas of Rushton Mine died after a rock collapse trapped him Wednesday. Authorities released a list of events including Veterans Day observance November 11 and school break dates through May, noting a 23 year old miner among the casualties. Wise resigns NASA post over internal disharmony
Dr. Donald A. Wise resigns as chief scientist and deputy director of the office of Lunar Exploration citing conflict between scientists and engineers over future objectives. He will become visiting professor at the University of Massachusetts for a year, then return to Franklin and Marshall College.

Summer Missionary Echo Time Teens Gather at Free Church
Teenagers from Indiana County join a five day Child Evangelism Fellowship event at Calvary Evangelical Free Church Muskegon training institute in Michigan. Rev Alvin Bauch and Miss Gale Child Evangelism Serene coordinate the gathering with Western Pennsylvania groups, inviting all boys and girls to attend outdoor Bible clubs and hear teen testimonies. The program runs Friday August 15 at 7 30 p.m. with alumni sharing experiences before returning to Indiana County in September after three months of training.
