Mrs. Mabel Cory Costigan, advocate for women’s independence and equal rights, supports the La Follette Wheeler campaign. Her husband Edward P. Costigan is a Tariff Commissioner, but she stresses political independence for women inside and outside family ties.
A petition to delay the Wegley trial, a former Greensburg attorney now jailed in Westmoreland with 49 charges of malfeasance involving client funds, was denied by Judge Charles E. Whitten. Defense lawyers Caruthers and Waldron argued lack of prep time after taking over, while ADA Taylor opposed. The judge said the case could be held to late September but not to November term.

Other officers include H S Loeb Punxsutawney and W D Boucher Reading as vice presidents, I Fatsinger Stroudsburg, F H Berthel Washington, H R Knapp Pottsville treasurer, and R A Kerr and A M Latshaw New Brighton as executive committee members.
A mechanized ditch digging unit works in the county to lay the T. W. Phillips Gas and Oil Co. pipeline from near Marion Center through Kintnersburg to Byrjck Church, Armstrong County. The 25 to 28 mile line uses 10 inch pipe for the first five miles and 12 inch pipe thereafter. The machine digs a six foot deep trench at about a half mile daily, using a rotating wheel with buckets that bores into the ground. The trench will average three feet in depth.
The First Baptist Church in Niagara Falls was severely damaged by a home made bomb blast shortly before 3 am. Windows shattered across the church and Y M C A building. plaster ripped from walls. several residents awakened. Rev A B Mercer led anti vice campaigns. threats had circulated within the Niagara Council of Churches.
In Clearfield on Aug 18 Squire F. Chorpenning held Mr. and Mrs. Hall and "Si" Fauzey on $1000 bail each after Mrs Florence Reed Parker and Dean Reed testified about the March 5 4 year old Billy Parker whom the Hall woman allegedly borrowed from his mother. Billy was found Monday morning at a hunting camp in Union township near Rockton and returned to his mother.
Mrs Lyberger cites Patsy Rubes among four men in a touring car who seized Lucy Debaua near Homer City. Three Italians entered the Debaua home while one fled toward Indiana. Officer Butatsa pursued but his car broke down. Lucy resisted as cries for help rang out, prompting fear for her safety and speculation against an elopement theory.
