Deaths of David Faith and Emma Oakes in Indiana and Clymer
The Indiana resident David Tipton Faith aged 74 died at 20 East Philadelphia Street after a long illness. Surviving children include Jacob, William, Edward, Daniel, Clara, and Tillie, plus a second wife Susan Reitz and two daughters Mary and Daisy. Civil War veteran and G A R member was honored by firing squad at funeral in Green Wood cemetery. Emma Oakes of Clymer died at 6:20 pm of heart trouble after years of nervous breakdown. She was 38, survived by husband and ten children, plus siblings, with funeral planned in Conemaugh and burial at Headrick’s cemetery. The Oakes family had moved from Conemaugh to Clymer five years prior.

Two passenger engines sideswiped a freight engine and three piled into a heap. Baggage car smoker buffet and two sleepers overturned in a ditch. Most injured were in the diner and smoker. The dead include engineer Arrick or Berger and freight engineer William Arrick. Over thirty injured taken to hospitals as police fire and ambulances responded. Main track and freight track torn up for 200 yards.
