Life of Judge Bryan and his Pennsylvania legacy

Judge Bryan, a prominent advocate for abolition, was appointed to the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania on April 3, 1780 and served for life. He opposed the Federal Constitution, joined the Council of Censors in 1784, and supported public, literary, and charitable causes. He served on the University of Pennsylvania trustees and died in Philadelphia on January 21, 1791.
