Frank Charlton reports Allied forces including American troops push from the Somme to Ancre region south of Albert as German lines retreat along a 30 mile front from Ancre to near Montdidier. French and British offensives widen gains with Montdidier threatened and Chaulnes nearing capture. Reports say 24,000 Germans taken, 300 cannons captured, and Morlancourt seized as air and naval actions yield several enemy losses.

Two 100 pound sacks labeled brown sugar were seized but inside the contents proved to be fertilizer. Zeddis hummed a tune as air was let out. In Junction City Kansas Union Pacific plans a coal reserve of 40,000 tons with 27,000 in local yards.
