Clawson Carnes Wedding in Indiana Lutheran Parsonage

Clawson and Miss June Carnes of Indiana united in marriage at 10 this morning in the Lutheran parsonage. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Dr. Lewis Hay. Mrs Wayne Rigg has traveled to Pittsburgh for a brief visit amid current revolutions, keeping General Villa busy elsewhere.

Langley’s Folly Proved Public Unbelief Wrong

Samuel Pierpont Langley built what may have been the first successful aeroplane model and attempted flight in 1908. Public ridicule mocked his efforts after a brief rise and a splash into the Potomac. Later, Glenn Curtiss rebuilt Langley’s machine and achieved a successful flight at Hammondport, New York, vindicating Langley’s principles of aviation.

French Uhlans Retreat After Fierce Petit Croix Fight

French forces repelled an attack by German Uhlans near Petit Croix on the Lorraine frontier. The assault began with an advance guard from the German army moving from Matz toward Nancy. French defenders used machine guns to stop the charge, killing several attackers before the Germans withdrew in disorder. An aviator relayed the news to the French customs guard commander.
