Shrum 50th Wedding Anniversary Celebrated in Commodore

Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Shrum of Commodore R D 1 plan a 50th wedding anniversary on August 9 with open houses from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. They wed August 6, 1913 at New Derry Methodist Church. He, a retired coal miner born May 2, 1893 in Millwood, and she, Catherine Howard, born March 4, 1897 in Bolivar, have 15 children, 29 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Fourteen Golfers Vie In Scotch Foursome At Indiana VFW Club

Fourteen men and women golfers played at the V F W Country Club Sunday afternoon in 75 percent handicap matches. June Novak and Mark Hasinger earned low net with 75, Walter Novak and Alyce Van Dorn had 30 putts for low putt honors. Kosanovichs won semi finals in the Handicap Tour with George Kosanovich beating Fred Smith and Helen Kosanovich beating Marie Badman. final on August 18 to determine individual handicap winner. Refreshment committee Badman and Van Dorn planned a covered dish supper after play next Sunday. invite all golfers to attend. The pattern knitting ad and catalog notice follow in the issue.

An attractive crew has been chosen to model fall fashions for a Junior Women's Civic Club travelogue style show. Mothers of Democracy Dinner Set for August 9 in Memorial Hall

The Mothers of Democracy will host a covered dish dinner in Memorial Hall Friday evening August 9 at 6 o'clock. Genealogy Workshop Draws 40 Visitors From 6 Counties

The History and Genealogical Society of Indiana County hosted a Saturday Genealogy Work Shop at Memorial Hall drawing about forty attendees from Jefferson Cambria Somerset Westmoreland and Allegheny counties. Seventeen enrolled in the beginners class with requests for materials from Cambria Somerset and a Charlottesville Virginia mail request. Organizers plan two more sessions next year in June and the first Saturday of August aided by Mothers of Democracy who ran a snack bar for researchers.

Lingenfelters Return From Western Tour

Mr and Mrs Watson Lingenfelter return from a four week Western tour with son Brent and his wife. They visited son Duane and his wife at Fort Bliss El Paso where Duane trains for Army duty in Germany. Brent and his wife flew to Richmond Va where Brent will work with IBM. They toured points of interest up to Yellowstone visiting friends and relatives on the trip.
