Bell Company to lay 146 miles of lead-sheathed cable
Bell Telephone Company of Pennsylvania plans a 58 mile storm resistant lead-sheathed cable project from Blairsville to DuBois with 200 miles of route to New York State line in view. The 750000 dollar investment covers outside plant buildings and equipment. Construction includes 2000 poles and 310600 feet of cable with underground segments in Blairsville and Soldier Run. Service anticipated early in 1940 will replace open wire on Pittsburgh to DuBois routes and cut down thousands of miles of wire while plans extend to Kane and Bradford.
