Jacob Kren faced a justice court in ShiorShinny Pa on charges of operating a vehicle under the influence with a dog and three bottles of moonshine in the car. The liquor was seized and he was fined 19 dollars and 50 cents, spending the night in jail.
Washington August 4 The Prohibition Commissioner R A Haynes loses nearly all authority as a new order by Revenue Commissioner D H Blair approved by Secretary Charles S Dewey shifts enforcement control to regional administrators effective September 1. The reform under Gen L C Andrews decentralizes duties while Haynes remains in Washington for routine duties and field inspections. Internal Revenue records on industrial alcohol move to prohibition directors August 1 with full transfer to administrators as they are appointed.
A man held in custody pleaded so earnestly to keep his dog that the request was granted. The liquor was not returned to the dog. A new highway segment between Schuylkill Haven and New Thard surfaced and opened to traffic between here and Pine Grove.
