North Korean pilot defects with MIG to South Korea
A 24 year old North Korean airman Lt Chung Nak hyun defected in a MIG 5 jet to South Korea landing on a small sandy airstrip near Taipori on the east coast just 2 minutes after takeoff. He said he longed for freedom and was unharmed. The MIG was largely undamaged and he was captured by South Korean forces. This marks the third NK aerial defection with earlier fliers in 1953 and 1955. The air force cites the 100000 dollar reward from past cases as no longer in effect.

Charges Filed Over Fight At Tor rance State Hospital
Samuel Vi Cenzo, 24, of Derry R D 1, held for court on charges of injuring a mental patient at Torrance State Hospital. President Eisenhower will conclude his seaside vacation at Newport and fly to Washington on Sunday evening.
