Word reaches here that John Broskin a World War veteran from Rayne township between Indiana and Ernest will have his body arrive in New York on Friday Then the remains will be shipped to Indiana upon arrival in the country He was killed in action in France and was a resident of the locality
In Paterson New Jersey on August 3 a steel drying basket at the Standard Silk Dyeing Company plant tore loose from its fixture and, rotating at 7000 revolutions a minute, struck workers. Three men were killed and two more badly mangled. the identities of the dead were not immediately known.
A former candidate appeals to county directors for support in election to the school board. He urges voters to place the welfare of the schools above personal interest, asks for a square deal, and vows to withdraw if the people oppose him. The letter notes broad support and references public schooling as a people’s matter.
Harrisburg reports hundreds inquire about free or low cost camping along Pennsylvania highways. Campsites exist on the Lincoln Highway near Juniata crossing, Bedord area, Shippensburg lots, near Washington, and Lake Side near Mahanoy City. Numerous free or low-cost sites are listed by local clubs, with water access and marked locations noted between Uniontown and Cumberland.
In Mecklisburg County a sheriff was overpowered early today while arresting an unidentified man charged with the murder of Postmaster Firore and Tobacco, Virginia. The mob rode away with the alleged perp still in custody as a second suspect escaped during pursuit, and robbery is suspected as the motive.
The September term jurors are listed for numerous districts including Blacklick Blairsville Clymer Coral Cherryhill Creekside Indiana Kent Livermore Marion Center Penn Run Punxsutawney Rochester Mills Rossiter Smicksburg Shelocta and more. The long roster names jurors by town and individual, with entries like Marion Center J E Sharp McIntyre Joseph Adams and John Adams among others.
The Homer-Indiana road finished with the MecCrady Bros laying a 38 stretch in nine hours and forty five minutes, the longest concrete lay in Indiana County history. The Indiana end has been open and the full road will open in about twenty one days after concrete settles. J Horace Manne of Marion Center visited Indiana earlier this week.

Sealed proposals will be received by Indiana County Commissioners until 12 noon on August 10 1921 for a reinforced concrete arch bridge over the North Branch of the Little Mahoning Creek between Richmond and Smithport Canoe Township. A $500 certified check accompanies each bid as forfeiture if the bidder fails to enter a contract within five days of award. Sealed proposals are invited by Black Lick Township Indiana County for four reinforced concrete bridges over Stewart Run Graham Run and Mahan Run with spans from ten to sixteen feet. Each bid must include a $500 certified deck payable to L G Ferguson Treasurer. Plans available from the County Engineer office. Township reserves right to reject any or all bids.
