Harrisburg August 2 The Commonwealth began the month with a total treasury of $44,950,811 including all funds, down from $50,589,286 a year ago. The general fund stood at $12,156,129 versus $20,898,872 on July 31, 1932. The motor fund opened with $12,799,640, compared with $20,849,764 a year earlier.

Abolition Sought Of Company Towns In Coal Regions
Pittsburgh Aug 2 Abolition of company towns stores and coal and iron police was urged under the coal industry code by the Pennsylvania Security League after miners from Allegheny Fayette Indiana and Westmoreland counties described conditions. Judge M A Musmanno called the company town an anomaly and relic of feudalism noting pay deductions for taxes and leases that constrain miners.
