Douglas W. Frederick 21 of Blairsville RD 1 and passenger Dignee C. Carlson 21 died when his car struck a tree on Route 192 about 20 miles west of Lewisburg at 2:30 pm yesterday. SAIGON AP An American narcotics official says the seizure of a Thai fishing trawler loaded with raw opium and morphine base may be the largest single haul ever. Special agent William Cunningham of the BNDD said the vessel carried 12 220 pounds of opium and 281 pounds of morphine base.

Two Area Mishaps Injure Two People
Indiana man William Hutchins, 49, of 295 Ben Franklin Road North, was treated and released at Memorial Hospital Johnstown after being struck by a car in the Burger King parking lot in Richland Township. Hutchins sustained multiple bruises, two skull lacerations and a fractured rib. Police say Gary D. Smith, 457 N Fifth St, was later arrested for a hit and run after a reckless drive that left buildings at Smith Truck Parts damaged and Smith apprehended. A separate crash in Anita damaged a truck car and a house. Randolph Brumgard, 34, Reynoldsville, fell asleep at Route 10, pushing a parked car into William Brown's home and requiring hospital care.
