No Trace of Aviator Near Deserted Car

Sheriff Glen Jones reported an expensive coupe registered to Alex Papana of Beverly Hills was found abandoned in the desert near Las Vegas. A note addressed to "Jean" signed "Alex" noted personal distress. Papana, a Romanian Olympic bobsledder turned pilot, had recent trouble at home and a history with Lockheed and Northrop as a test pilot.

Jersey Field Day at Clarion on Tuesday

Pennsylvania Strike Totals ~164600 Idle Workers

The Associated Press reports Pennsylvania’s strike picture eased slightly this week yet major stoppages by soft coal miners and electrical workers kept 164600 idle. Notable settlements include a three month York steelwork stoppage at Martin Parry Corp and a five month UAW at General Motors United Motors Service Division in Philadelphia.

Babe Ruth was fined 15 dollars in Yonkers City Court for speeding 60 mph. His attorney Charles J Wallace paid the fine. 12 Killed In Juvenile Gang Wars

Philadelphia reports on a claim that more than 12 boys were killed in New York City gang wars last year. Bradford Chambers of the East Harlem Gang Survey described gangs of ages 12 to 18 in minority areas and Puerto Rican sections. He noted weapons from knives to improvised guns and urged engaging gangs in their own neighborhoods to channelize their activities into constructive pursuits.
