Missouri River flood devastates Omaha sewer breach

The Missouri River flood swelled into Omaha causing a critical sewer through which water surged, threatening lowland industrial areas and triggering Army Engineers to reinforce the levee system. The crest moved downstream toward Kansas and neighboring states as millions in damage mounted.

New Jersey Jail Revolt Ends At Trenton Prison

Sixty nine convicts filed out of the Trenton State prison print shop ending a 77hour revolt while a sympathy mutiny of 231 inmates continued at Rahway prison. An impartial investigation of the prison was one objective of the rebellion. Deputy commissioner F Lovell Bixby said progress was made during their first meeting with officials after a two week recess.

Missing Tarentum Boy Feared Drowned in Bull Creek

Firemen and police dragged rain swollen Bull Creek today for two year old Ralph Kuhns Jr. of Tarentum after three playmates said he was swept away by rushing waters while wading in the creek.

Enlistees Extended Nine Months In U S Armed Forces

Washington reports about 250000 service members whose terms due to expire in the new year will be extended for nine months. The extension applies to volunteers in Army Air Force Navy and Marines while Selective Service registrants who had signed for 24 months are excluded. Ebensburg Man Held In Slaying

Clarence Edwards, 46, is jailed on an open charge for the fatal shooting of his 67 year old uncle William T. H. Edwards in a barn on the brother’s Black Lick farm. Coroner reports Edwards admitted firing to scare his relative.
