Officials at Trenton State Prison watched for signs of a break in a revolt by 68 convicts barricaded in the prison printing shop. The administration is waiting it out to protect four hostages held since 10 a m Tuesday.
Police say Fred Waring was arrested for reckless driving during a TV rehearsal at Indiana State Teachers College on April 14. A clinic director says four inmates at the college facility were involved in the incident, with conditions unclear and all records lost in a fire. Bond posted for Waring’s appearance in traffic court on April 22.

Washington AP reports Sen Douglas Dill denounces airborne pilots and extra hazard pay not allowed to infantry. At a public hearing Gen Hoyt S Vandenberg and Vice Admiral J H Cassady challenge cuts in extra pay while warning of fliers losses if reduced. Hearings stem from a Senate amendment adding 45 dollars monthly combat pay to 3.5 million armed forces members.
Averell Harriman, Truman adviser and mutual security chief, may be groomed as a Democratic presidential candidate. A $100-a-plate dinner in New York reflects strong party backing for Harriman with 94 of the state’s votes at Chicago’s convention. Notable speakers include Kefauver, McMahon, Barkley, Stevenson, Kerr, and Lehman. Russell is not attending.
Harrisburg reports Clyde Nehrig opens a plumbing business as the Pennsylvania National Guard plans a major reorganization. About 20,000 guardsmen called from active duty in Indiana California and Florida are expected to return home within 21 months. Many will rejoin the Guard with some re-enlisting while others prepare to leave federal service.

Blairsville, Black Lick and Burrell Township schools plan a joint 1–12 merger. Individual boards approved, with negotiations to draft contracts for directors to vote. Black Lick Township has no schools, sending all students to Blairsville on tuition. Burrell Township sends grades 1–12 to Blairsville High School on tuition.
Harrisburg report notes Tuesday's primary will be easy for 108 incumbents seeking re election with many unopposed for party nominations. In the House 28 of 35 Democratic and 60 of 100 Republican incumbents are unopposed, while the Senate features leaders Harvey Taylor Dent and Frank Riuh among others amid tightened contests.
