Rudold Hoess former commandant of Oswiecim testified at Nuremberg that Ernst Kaltenbrunner and staff issued orders for protective custody commitments and executions in concentration camps. He said Kaltenbrunner or deputy Mueller signed these orders and Kaltenbrunner controlled the fate of thousands of prisoners. Hoess, arrested last March 2, described the Oswiecim rule resulting in 2,500,000 executions and detailed the gassing process within camps guarded by secrecy orders from Himmler. He noted Himmler visited Oswiencim in 1942 and watched a processing from start to finish. Hoess admitted feeling some sympathy for victims, yet said orders from Himmler quashed qualms.
