WILLIAM L. FELTER, Principal of the Girls' High School, Brooklyn, N. Y., argues that women’s colleges do not exist to promote celibacy yet notes how marriage rates among college educated women and a falling birth rate among the upper classes support concerns. He compares U.S. trends to France’s declining birth rate, warning immigration masks the trend.

Scranton reports little hope for peace as miners threaten a strike after a claimed firm stance by operators. Delaware, Lackawanna and Western boost output while others run minimal activity. Mitchell remains hopeful for a negotiated end, with meetings in Wheeling and Indianapolis planned to press for concessions. Two minors killed near Philadelphia in separate incident.
