World War Veterans Seize St Johns Riot Forces Resignation

World War veterans control St Johns after a massive riot in the House of Assembly. Civilians stormed the building, injuring scores and forcing Prime Minister Sir Richard Squires to resign. Police were unable to restore order as veterans patrolled the streets and protected the premier’s home. Clergymen aided the premier’s evacuation amid the unrest.

Public speaking event at Ayroon Township High School

The public speaking class will present a program in the auditorium on Thursday evening with admission for adults. A large crowd gathered in the capital led to a violent riot after the premier’s resignation. Police and civilians were injured and two officers were hospitalized. The prime minister and police chief were held captive for hours during the unrest.

The Moorhead family, long residents of Blairaville after moving from Indiana, mourn the death of brakeman Johnston Moorhead born July 24, 1884.
