Jonathan D. Walkinshaw, 91, Civil War veteran and Cokeville postmaster, died after a long illness at his home. Born in Derry township he lived in Cokeville most of his life and served as lieutenant in the Eleventh Pennsylvania Reserve unit, later working for the Pennsylvania Railroad and as a brakeman on Blairsville’s first passenger train. Funeral services Sunday at 2 pm at his Cokeville home, Rev. George W. Ringer officiating. interment Blairsville cemetery. Also noted is the death of Miss Edna G. Ewing, 36, daughter of James B. and Annie Ewing, after a lingering illness in Cress.

John Youngblood retires, ending Youngblood Brothers tobacco and cigar shop at 599 Philadelphia Street. Founded 43 years ago by Horace and Robert Youngblood, the store made home roasted jumbo peanuts a local specialty and sold Little Dutch tobaccos and toys. The business moved in 1907 from 581 to 577 Philadelphia Street and was run by John Youngblood until retirement this week. Open evenings, with floral services advertised at Green Vase Floral Shoppe.
