He will oversee district operations in Johnstown Indiana Somerset Clearfield Philipsburg DuBois and Punxsutawney. A 30 year employee he began in 1922 with Penn Public Service in engineering. He became Indiana district engineer in 1929 general foreman in 1930 and district manager in 1943 before returning to Johnstown last year. Kenneth MacAlpine, 45, of Allentown, is reported improving after facial cuts from a one car accident on Devil's Elbow Monday night. His car struck a utility pole and he was taken to Indiana Hospital by a passing motorist, Charles Hill, of Philadelphia Street.
In Wisconsin Taft won 24 of 30 GOP delegates and Warren captured six in three congressional districts while Stassen failed to win any. On the Democratic side Kefauver swept all 28 convention votes with about 85 percent of statewide support. Taft spoke for comment later. Warren expressed gratitude for voter confidence amid limited campaigning.
In Nebraska Taft clung to a slim lead in the GOP presidential primary as results from 1,275 of 2,058 precincts showed Taft at 30,489, Eisenhower 32,975, and Stassen 27,288 with Kefauver and Kerr competing for Democratic delegates. Taft looked set to win most of Nebraska’s 16 of 18 GOP national convention delegates, while Democrats faced a split delegate outlook with Kefauver and Kerr each favored for about five of the 12 outstate delegates.
Newly elected officers of Indiana Lodge 931 Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks were installed last night in the lodge rooms on Philadelphia street. Acting Grand Lodge officers presided under authority from the Pennsylvania Grand Lodge of Elks with Lodge 175 Johnstown staff assisting led by F J McCormick.

Thieves hit the Gateway Diner in Providence 22 times over seven years. On the 32nd attempt last January owner Edward Harris of Seeks Lonk Mass bought a collie shepherd to guard the joint, letting the dog sleep inside overnight. The 23rd break in occurred last night as the diner opened for the day.
