A car at a grade crossing near Homer City was struck by a Baltimore and Ohio freight locomotive. Frank Gorichen and his wife, residents of Center township, died in hospital. an ambulance crew carried Gorichen to Indiana Hospital before he succumbed. An investigation by Coroner Frederick W. St. Clair was started.

Griffith Ellis Dies of Pneumonia at 80 in Indiana
Griffith Ellis aged nearly 81, died at his family home on Church Street after a weeklong pneumonia illness. Born August 1, 1852 in Machynlleth Wales, he came to the U.S. at age four, lived most of his life in Indiana, ran Penn Roller Mills with his father, later worked in the House of Representatives transcribing room in Harrisburg, and served as president of the Citizens National Bank for seven years. He was a trustee of Indiana State Teachers College and president of the Indiana County Agricultural Society, active in the Methodist Episcopal Church and various clubs. He was survived by two children, four grandchildren, and his wife Mary St. Clair Ellis who died two years earlier. Funeral at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the family home, with burial in Oakland cemetery. flowers requested not to be sent.

Dr Charles H Miner was named by the Luzerne County court to succeed the late Daniel L Hart as mayor of Wilkes-Barre.
