The sixth annual Mc Cartneys reunion gathered 150 attendees at John M Kennedy of Parnas sus home on September 4. Samuel Mc Cartney was elected president, I W Jackson secretary, and E A Townsend treasurer. An executive committee including John M Kennedy, Wile Mccartney, and Murray W Jackson organized the event with descendants from multiple towns. The next reunion is planned for late August at a Wear Penn railroad location.

W O Smith of Punxsatawney was nominated for Congress by the Republican party for the Jefferson Indiana Armstrong Clarion district. The nomination came on the 14th ballot with Indiana and Clarion voting solidly for Jefferson. Armstrong cast three votes for H m Jack. Rain or shine the fair goes on.
Livery Stable Burned at Pine Flats
Fire destroyed John Altimus's livery stable at Pine Flats in the county last Friday morning. Jack Morgan, who slept in the stable, struck a match to light his pipe, dropped it among hay, and ignited the blaze. The barn, horses, and vehicles were saved, but harness and robes burned. no insurance coverage reported.

Miscreant suspected in rail switch mishap near Blairsville
A passenger train on the Indiana branch struck a derelict switch at Smiths coal siding two miles from Blairsville. Engineer Albert Wagle halted in time after seeing a dark signal lamp, which was later found full of oil and out for some time. No injuries occurred as repairs completed and service resumed.
