Notes on social doings include readings at Library Hall Along the Kennebec. Engagement announced for Miss Elizabeth Jackson and Mr Alexander Stewart with wedding planned in Apollo Presbyterian church. Several dinner parties and receptions held by locals with neighbors named, reflecting community social life.
The first nevy train over the Cambria and Cresson Division arrived on time at 9 45 4 a m with over one hundred passengers. Engine 51 led a baggage car a smoking car and one coach under Conductor Stiffler. Crew included Turner Baird Lanker Delozier Meahank Snyder and Detective Crouse. Prospects are favorable though minor fixes are needed before success. Passengers can reach Indiana from Glent Campbell and Cherrytree by early departure but returning that night requires noon travel over the main line.
Last Friday afternoon a scaffold collapse at Kellys stove in Cymer dropped about a thousand feet of lumber onto three carpenters. Frank Kerr of Purchase Line sustained ankles and head injuries. Ror Smith of LaJone fractured jaw and tooth loss with leg and back injuries and brief unconsciousness. Samuel Boyer of Clearfield sprained ankles and hand lacerations. Dr Ney Prothero treated them. they are awaiting recovery.
At a special meeting of the Kittanning Presbytery held in the Presbyterian church here Monday the Rev. B. Wingard pastor of Glen Campbell and Arcadia churches was released and has accepted a call from West End Presbyterian church in Pittsburg. The Rev. W. Wilson of Indiana was released as pastor of Curry Run Presbyterian near Sheroda, though he remains pastor of Creekside and Washington churches due to increased duties with the other two congregations.
The report notes a legal error claiming rabbits are prohibited while the law only covers pheasants and partridges. Local inquiries for rabbits are ongoing as farmers push back against this misinterpretation.
A major fire at the rear grain warehouse occupied by Harvey J. Moyle near the Pennsylvania railroad station destroyed the building and its contents, with $8,000 to $9,000 in losses. A Sunday drive to raise funds for Blairsville College for Women collected fourteen thousand dollars, half of a 28000 debt. Rev Dr J T Crory of Pittsburgh spoke at the Presbyterian church, Dr J D Moffat of Washington & Jefferson College spoke at the apartment house, and youth groups led the Methodist Episcopal service.
The Indiana Lodge of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will hold the annual Lodge of Sorrow at the lodge rooms in the Odd Fellows building on Sunday December 2. Since last year only J. Hovis Engle has died within the fraternity. The service will be conducted strictly under lodge auspices.
The county Sheriffs organization held its annual netting and banquet at the Central Hotel on Friday evening. Attendees included Mr and Mrs F Jamison, Mr and Mrs James McGregor, Mr and Mrs Mack, Mr and Mrs B P Lewis, T S Neal and his daughter Mia, George E Simpson, Mrs D E Thomp son, Mr and Mrs Josiah Neal and D E Tomb, Hsg Ex-Sheriff D B Thompson of Bhurs ville, and Mrs T S Neal. Several could not attend due to illness or bereavement, including Jacob Wottling and Landlord Miller. A fine dinner was served and praised by all attendees.
Four suspects named John Maronco Sr and Jr August Mathia and Pan Longey were arrested after an investigation showed petty thefts like chickens and pigs in the Chambersville area. They were brought before Justice J D Carna han and committed to jail after hearing the evidence.
Sergeant T. 12 Ward of troop D State Constabulary and Mins Won Sterley were quietly married at the home of Rev. C. H. Filawilliams in Paunxsntawney. The ceremony occurred the evening of November 22, 1906, and the couple departed the next morning for a tour of the eastern cities.
George D Thorn urges Pennsylvania county commissioners to prepare for winter primaries under the uniform primary election law. He says counties must provide supplies and equipment for each district and ballot boxes for exclusive use at primaries to avoid disturbing boxes used in general elections. Petition filings by boroughs or townships are needed for ballots under the new law. If not filed, primaries must follow the old system.
The district Christian Endeavor convention will be at Blacklick Presbyterian Church on Friday evenings. The program includes prayers, discussions on youth influence, and a 9:00 address by Rev. George G. Barns of Homer City. Music will be directed by Mr. J. R. King.

The Farmers Bank of Indiana advertises a revolving deposit plan with four percent interest. You may start with any amount and there are no renewal requirements. Interest continues uninterrupted and withdrawal of part of the deposit does not affect the rest. No changes occur day after promotion.
W G Orner of Strongstown visited on business while Mrs Harry Whitey planned a brief city stay. Mrs Samuel Hughes visited her mother Mrs Seah. Squire Kennedy and wife of Ebenezer were in town on business. Sentter and Mrs Fisher are awaiting the arrival of a young son. Mrs Carl Yuckenberg spent time in DuBois with her brother and saw her new niece Billy. Thomas and Jake Riht of Greensburg spent a week hunting. Mr and Mrs J Metirepor and Nellie went to Daklais to visit D M Garson’s ill eldest son. Mrs Cardon Smith of Donora is visiting J E H Lollar. Mrs Smith and Mrs Lollar were neighbors in Donora. John Tinthoff hunted in Somerset county at his nephew Samuel Corbis’s home, who can handle a gun nearly as well as his grandfather.

Bliss of Niagara Falls served as bridesmaid and bust ad. Earlier, Lewis A. Leary and Ola M. Wilf tied the knot on Friday at the Lutherstown parsonage on South Sixth Street.
