Mikado Benefit for Children's Aid Society Planned
The Comic Opera Mikado will be sung for a Children’s Aid Society benefit on Thanksgiving night. Gilbert and Sullivan’s production features a large chorus under J. L. Apple, elaborate stage effects, and costumes from New York City. The cast includes W Pearl Walker, Lisle Apple, Walter H. Jackson, P. A. Campbell, R. Eliott Owens, J. Blair Sutton, Miss Helen White Pittsing, Miss Helen Torrance, J Lisle Apple, Miss Gora Weir, and Mrs. J. Lisle Apple. The Indiana public is urged to attend to support homes for needy children.

Sudden Death in Hotel Basement Seeks Answers
Charles H. Winton aged 34 was found dead in the basement of Hotel White in McKeesport on Thursday night. A disused lavatory door stood open and Winton’s body appeared cold when found by the hotel clerk who alerted a physician. Winton, married to Lou Ansley, leaves a daughter and is son of the late Rev. F. B. Winton. The remains were brought to his hometown and interred at Greenwood cemetery.

Tragic S J Peffer Child Drowns In South Seventh Cellar
A four year old son of Charles J Peffer residing on South Seventh street drowned in a cellar spring used for milk and butter storage. The child wandered into a trough and could not escape as his mother left briefly. Found face downward, he died despite fast efforts. the family had moved from Elwood City six months ago and the body was taken back there for burial.

Death of Edson Work in U S Army Service
Edson Work son of Mr and Mrs P A Work of near Richmond died in service to the United States about a month ago. He enlisted a year ago and served in Luzon as sergeant of Company A Ninth Infantry. He then went to China when hostilities began and died of disease at Yokohama or aboard ship returning from China. His parents received a war department telegram last Wednesday stating his body had arrived in San Francisco and would be shipped from Pasxountaway without expense. He was 23 years old.

J A H Longwell of School street near Twelfth sustained serious injuries Saturday when the scaffold at Postmaster Smith's new house failed. He fell about 28 feet, breaking a collar bone and a rib near the heart. Dr W A Simpson attended and he rests easy awaiting further checks.
