Plans for Memorial Day Exercises were finalized at a G A R Post No 28 meeting last Thursday. The event will be held in the Court Room or in front of the Court House instead of the lawn between churches. Rev Dr John Harris Bucknell University president will deliver the Memorial Day address and speak in the Baptist church May 27 before lecturing on The Fall of Richmond at the Court House Monday evening. Dr Harris, Civil War veteran, is a native of Brushvalley in this county.

Big Excursion to Washington by Normal Seniors
An Indiana Normal School excursion, the largest yet, left Blaineville at 8:86 on a special Pennsylvania Railroad train of three coaches and a baggage smoking car. Over one hundred forty travelers joined at stations along the line, totaling about 170 to Washington where they will stay at the Oxford Inn and visit city sights Tuesday through Thursday before returning Friday morning at 7:50. Lipsett of Pittsburgh, a railroad travel agent, oversees the trip.

Grading Begins on Buffalo and Susquehannon Line
Grading work has started in this county on the Buffalo and Susquehanon line. Roughly one hundred men began on Ex-Sheriff Neal's farm near Georgeville, with plans to double the force to two hundred. The survey was altered last minute, choosing a route north of the Job Brown farm, between Corode and Round Top church, down Mud Creek to Georgeville, to speed progress.

Woman Dies After Lamp Explosion Rescue
Mrs. David Ferguson of Salinburg died Saturday after sustaining burns Friday evening when a lamp in the room where her six year old son slept exploded. She had tried to save her child as flames engulfed the dwelling, which was saved.
