Board of Trade Meeting Reports No Fund For Glass Works Aid
An adjourned Board of Trade meeting on March 20 1902 in Tipiana Pennsylvania saw the Ways and Means Committee recommend against raising a 5000 dollar fund to aid the National Glass Company for expanding the Northwood Glass Works. The committee praised the plant but urged no additional citizen contributions at this time. The session also referred the Indiana County Centennial celebration for 1908 to a ten member committee.

Powder Magazine Explodes at Panx Sotawney Works
A powder magazine at the works about one and a half miles above Panx sotawney exploded at about 3 40 Tuesday afternoon, demolishing the buildings and killing three mill employees. The mill had been in operation a short time and few powders were on hand, otherwise more lives might have been lost. No further details were available Tuesday evening.

Martha Henderson aged 77 died at her home in Kittanning on a Wednesday in March 1902 after a lingering illness. She was daughter of Abasolam Woodward Armstrong county judge whose death by Indians is noted. Her husband Brice Henderson ex-Commissioner also died ten years ago. She was sister of Elizabeth Walker of Church street. Walker and McCurdy of Livermore left to attend the funeral. Also mentioned is Mrs H M Fleck of Marion Center learning of sister H G Hoover death in Rockford Iowa. Hoover, aged 62, died after a brief illness of heart trouble, survived by husband and eight children.
