Narrow Escape From Live Wire Shock While Repairing Bel Line
Milton Fitzgerald narrowly escaped electrocution last Wednesday evening while repairing a damaged Bel line on Seventh street. He climbed to a cross bar to fix the connection when he touched a live Indiana Provision Company wire, held fast for seconds, and then freed himself with effort. A crowd gathered as he survived the peril, aided by Dr. M. M. Davis and friends, with estimates of about 1009 volts coursing through him. He was treated and recovered, with the lines carrying 2490 volts posed a fatal risk if he had fallen.

Not a Sin To Steal Beer Verdict Sparks City Outrage
A Indiana county jury under Judge Telford ruled that stealing beer is not a sin nor a crime. The same parties who broke into a brewery months earlier repeated the act Tuesday night and looted several houses of refreshments. Frank Vilella took two gallons of whiskey from a former tenant, remarking that he disliked the situation. Critics say condoning such crimes by a societal element will spur repeats.
